ANTI-RIGHT TO WORK RALLY, TUESDAY, JANUARY 28 - (1/25/2014)

The big money, anti-labor machine that worked to defeat labor in Wisconsin and Michigan is now setting its sights on Pennsylvania. HB 1507, incorrectly called "Paycheck Protection", would prevent the state from collecting dues on behalf of public sector unions, with the ultimate goal of draining union resources and increasing the union's overall administrative burden. Less resources mean less ability to fight back against right-wing legislative attacks, clearing the way for Pennsylvania to become the next Right to Work state.



On Tuesday, January 28 at 10:00 AM, the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO will hold an anti-Right to Work event in the State Capitol rotunda. This will be an opportunity for all of us to stand with our brothers and sisters in the public sector and push back against the attack on workers. Every available member is encouraged to attend.


If you are planning to attend, here's some information on transportation and parking:


SOUTHEAST PA BUSES


Laborers Local 135, Norristown has a few seats left on their bus. Anyone interested can call 610-279-4041. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bus departs on Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM from their hall at 740 Sandy Street, Norristown.


AFSCME District Council 88 has approximately 15 seats left on their bus. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone interested, please contact Jackie or Stephanie at 800-478-4944. Bus departs on Tuesday morning at 6:45 AM from their office at 3031 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting.


AFSCME 1199c is still offering seats on their bus, which will leave Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM. Bus will leave from their headquarters at 1319 Locust Street, Philadelphia. Anyone interested, call 215-735-1300 or visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6NPJR3F to reserve a seat.


NORTHEAST PA BUSES


There will be a bus departing on Tuesday morning at 6:15 AM from the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre. The bus will leave from the Sears parking lot. Currently, there are approximately 10 seats available. Anyone interested, please contact Jack Borzell.


Teamsters 773 have a few seats on their bus available on a first-come, first-served basis. The bus will depart on Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM from 1345 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Anyone interested, contact Joe Wieder at 610-434-4451.


**PARKING INFO**


Anyone driving to the rally, please visit parkharrisburg.com for a list of parking garages in downtown Harrisburg. For reference, the State Capitol building is located on third street. Arriving early is highly recommended.
